Emperadores Chapter -
Frequently asked questions
(and answers!)...(Page 3 of 4)

Do you "hit" or "paddle" pledges and/or prospective members?
The brothers of Lambda Sigma Upsilon believe that those working to become members are "MEN FIRST and PLEDGES SECOND." Our pledge process inherently respects the manhood of those pursuing our brotherhood and logic dictates that there is nothing to be gained, learned, or respected in senseless violence. In short, NO! -- we do NOT hit NOR do we "paddle" our pledges....EVER!

How long does it take
to become a brother?

Many people interested in pledging spend at least one semester preparing, forming and participating in an "interest group," and getting to know our brothers to be sure that pursuing LSU brotherhood is something they want to do. Once pledging actually begins it can take anywhere from 5-10 weeks [or even longer!] to complete the process--depending on the success of the individual line (Note: A "line" refers to a "pledge class.")
